Mr. sunder Lal a resident of village Ratanakhedi married Miss Sumantra of village Amamai. They were landless laborers mostly depending on daily wages. As the wages were very low at that time he worked as a bonded laborer. In their married life they have two boys and three girls. For the marriage of his fist daughter, He took a huge loan. Again, for the marriage of the 2nd girl he took another loan and continued as a bonded laborer.

Boys did not go to school and are working as daily laborer. The eldest boy named Ganesh married and has a female child. Youngest girl Anitha studied up to 10th class. Since she failed in 10th class, she did not go for further studies. Two boys are doing daily labor.

To Sunderlal’s bad luck he was bitten by a snake called viper. He took treatment for it a long time and it was getting bad to worse. So, he could not do any further work as a bonded laborer. He took a loan from the village and refunded the money and came back home. Later his eldest son took him to the government hospital and the doctors told him to amputate his leg above his knee and entire family was in deep sorrow. As they had no alternative they agreed to the operation. Thus, he was healed but could not go for any work.

The family depended on the little wage earned by the mother and the eldest son. Mr. Sunder Lal did not lose heart. He knew little bit of cycle repairing and opened a small cycle repairing shop at home.

 

 

Meanwhile CEROWC reached village Ratanakhedi and called the villagers for a meeting Mr.Sunder Lal also attended the meeting . Since they were cheated by many people who made SHG, they could not believe CEROWC too. But the explanation given by the entertainers gave them little confidence. After fifteen days they were ready to open the SHG. The entertainers gladly and willingly responded to their call.

They made two SHGs on that day Sumantra also joined the SHG and deposited Rs 50/ The meeting continued for six months and CEROWC studied the situation of the village in detail. The entertainers explained all the project activities.

Seeing the pathetic situation of Sumatra’s family, the villagers suggested for a Grocery shop for her and submitted the LC from SHG. The purchasing committee together with her son went to Bilkisganj and purchased the items. Thus, they opened the shop in his family.

The youngest daughter got free training in tailoring from the government and CEROWC supported her for a tailoring machine. From the tailoring she earns Rs 2500 /

Sumantra started a small kitchen garden near to her house. She goes for daily labor and cares for the family. From the Grocery shop she earns Rs 3000 per month.

Now they took 2 acres of land on lease and cultivate it and earn an income from wheat 40000 and from maize an income of Rs. 20000 per year. Thus, the family earn Rs 1, 20 000 / per year other than the daily wage of their son.

Then Sumantra purchased five goats and she stopped going for daily wage. Mr. Sunder Lal cared for the shop. Sumantra sold 12 he goats and earned Rs 1,00,000. Now they have a total income of Rs. 2,20,000/-

Recently Mr. Sunder Lal was diagnosed of high blood Sugar and the doctors suggested for the operation of his leg. He has undergone an operation of his leg and is taking rest. CEROWC has arranged wheel chair for Sunder Lal with help of Dr. Sr. Jisha Antony CEM from her hospital Bhopal. Sumantra and his son look after the shop.
