Mrs. Kamla Devnaryan

Success Story of Mrs. Kamla Devnaryan

I am Kamla, a resident of village Jamunchapri, Panchayat Kaneriya, Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh. I belong to adiwasi (Korku) community. We are total 5 members (4 female and 1 male) in my family. My family's main source of income is daily labor.

I got married in 1995 to Mr. Devnarayan in village Sagoni. I lived in my in-laws house for almost 17 years. In my in-laws house, I was tortured and abused in my husband house. My husband used to drink with the money he gets for his labor. He come home and my mother law and sister in laws cook up story and tell him so he used to beat me very badly. Distressed by this, I left my in-laws and husband and took my three children went to my parents at Jamuchapri in 2012. With the consent of my parents I began to go the nearby farms and d o daily labor at a rate of Rs 100 As wage per day. I was not able to meet the both ends of my family. For food and medicines etc I had to depend on my father for every need of mine. My mother used to support me. With this minimum wage I was no t able to give good food clothing education and heath of my children

In the year 2020, I heard about CEROWC organization and their work. I got more information about the project from my neighbors as well as the Entertainers of CEROWC. One day I went to project office at village Chottakheda, got more information about the project activities. Then I joined the SHG and started saving Rs 100 per month. From the SHG I got to know more about the different activities of CEROWC. I applied for a photocopy machine from the organization which cost Rs 22000. As a local contribution I had to deposit Rs. 8000/-to CEROWC office but I found it was very hard to collect 8000 rupees for local contribution. I had Rs 4000 with me and I requested my father for another Rs.4000 and submitted to Entertainer. I got a check of Rs. 22,000 to purchase photocopy machine. The program officer contacted Mr. Ashish Goswami Surbhi Computer Bhopal and ordered for a photocopy machine for me. To gather with the program manager Mr. Bhupender Sharma and my brother Mr. Rajesh went to Surbhi computer Bhopal and purchased the photocopy machine and all necessary accessories. As there was no photocopy machine around I could get momentum for my shop and could collect Rs 100 -200 per day.

Now, in order to develop my shop I was reflecting what more I could do together with this shop so I added hosiery items like soap, bangle, oil etc.

mean while I heard that government is educating women for self employment like cutting, tailoring etc. Then with the permission of my parents I too joined the class and studied tailoring. Now I have the confident that I can do tailoring in different fashions. So I purchased a tailoring machine and started tailoring too. Being satisfied with my work people around began to give order to my shop. Thus I began to earn an additional income of Rs 300-400 per day from the different activities. Meanwhile I heard that CEROWC institution is training young girls for developing their skills so I sent my daughter Neha with CERWOC to RSETI Sehore. She finished her 3 months course and started tailoring. My 2nd daughter Priyanka doing BSc. 1st year with the help of my brother.

Now, the cricket star Mr. Sachin Tendulker started an NGO name Seva Kutir and are educating the primary school children of the village. Mr. Sachin Tendulker and his team appointed my daughter Priyanka as a primary teacher and she earns Rs 6000/ per month. My only son Jashraj finished his higher secondary education he got a job and working with Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board and he earns an amount of Rs 10,000 per month. Thus a whole we earn an income of Rs.30, 000 per month. She added Hosiery items to her shop and began to earn more.

We purchased different household items for our family. All children began to wear good clothes and help my parents too. I am happy that I did my responsibility toward my family sincerely. Now the neighbor who accused me, when I came back from my in-laws house accepts me and appreciates me and my hard work. Now I applied for a house to the panchayat from PMAYG and got a house for my family so that we live peacefully. My son got married and she too is an expert in tailoring and do tailoring with us and we have an additional income of Rs.2000/ month. Now we do not go for daily labour.

I thank CEROWC organization, KKS and BMZ for their valuable support for me in time
